    • OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- Virgil W. Lindy, 81, died Tuesday morning at Wirth Regional Hospital.

      He was a retired blacksmith and had worked in a steel mill in Gary.

      He was an Army veteran and a member of Francisco Gospel Ministry Church.
      Surviving are his wife, Elna of Portage; a daughter, Beverly Kelley of Francisco; a son, Kenneth L. Guard of New Haven, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lisa R. Kelley, Susan N. and Chad Blackburn; a great-grandddaughter; and a stepgreat-grandson.

      Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Colvin Funeral Home, with burial in Union Community Church Cemetery.

      Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
