    • BOONVILLE, Ind. -- Alta Pearl Young, 97, died Friday night at Baker's Rest Haven.

      She was a clerk at Tressler's Dime Store for 25 years.

      She attended Main Street General Baptist Church and the Fanny Crosby Sunday school class. She was past president and the oldest member of American Legion Post 200 Auxiliary.

      Surviving are a daughter, Janice P. Birge of Boonville; four grandchildren, Mark and Darren Birge and Estella and Carl Leland Young; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L., in 1974 and by two sons, Carl Eugene in 1977 and Leland Ray in 1942.

      Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery.

      Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
