Jeanne O. Young Rea Obituary
Jeanne O. (Young) Rea, 86, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Golden Living Center Woodlands. She was born May 31, 1923, in Granite City, Illinois.
She graduated from Reitz High School in 1941 and retired from Bristol Myers after over 30 years in service. She was involved with the Radio Reading Service for WNIN and was an avid reader. She lvoed to travel, visiting many different countries. She was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church and Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Rea, in 1986; parents, Noral and Bertha Fox Young; sister Betty Young Groben; and stepson, Emmett Lee Rea, killed in action during the Vietnam War.
She is survived by her sister, Anita (Young) and Dr. Thomas Scholl of Newburgh; nieces and nephews, Dr. Pam Groben Tomberg (Jim) of North Carolina, Dr. Glen Groben of Boise, Idaho, Debbie Scholl Newell (Doug) of Newburgh, Thomas D. Scholl (Cindy) of Newburgh and Elizabeth Scholl of Belleview, Florida.
Services 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 3 to 7 pm.m at the funeral home.
